Hikvision: Access Control 2024 Overview with the latest QR code terminals
Hikvision’s access control solutions have undergone quite an overhaul lately.
The ‘MinMoe’ face recognition terminals are one of Hikvision’s most feature-rich product types, whilst being a stand-alone touch-free solution at an ever-keener price point. These devices are now coming through with POE support (with electronic lock passthrough) whilst some also feature a dedicated QR scanner such as the DS-K1T344MBWX-QRE1 as featured in this video, issued via the recently launched Hik-Connect Teams cloud service:
(The K1T6 pro/ultra series feature larger 7/8” screens with more secure desfire card readers, plus an increased storage capacity for 10-100 thousand face images.)
QR Code scanning, an easy way to provide visitor access without even being on site.
Hospitality is one ideal use case, guests can be sent a temporary QR code with expiry time and or use limit, to hold up to the camera to release the electronic lock. No app installation is required by the user, they simply receive the QR in their email inbox!
The vandal resistant, stand alone card/pin terminals can also tie into the same platform – solidly built yet incredibly cost effective (but not POE just yet). They also offer Bluetooth access, meaning when an authorized smartphone running HikConnect is directly nearby, the door opens!
The DS-K1T502 models also include cameras to double up as intercom stations (these devices provide full access control functionality such as time attendance along with intercom features when paired with an indoor screen). What’s more the DS-K1T502DBWX-CQR has a dedicated QR scanner to provide rapid QR code scanning for guest access in the same manner as mentioned above.
Finally the multi-door controller solutions (with controller readers) for larger commercial projects now offer cascading (daisy chaining via RS485) along with optional POE functionality and support for Hik-Connect Teams cloud management also.
All of the above can be managed via HikCentral Access Control if you would rather, which is currently free of charge for up to 16 doors & 3000 people. (Hik Central is the professional platform that runs on a Microsoft Windows PC/Server on site instead of HikConnect Teams which is cloud-based.)
